I got to spend an evening with our third grade students this past week and I loved our time together.
With a group this age we get to experience highs and lows like we are on a roller coaster. The joy and energy were high—as well as the wiggles! The hard part was knowing we had to wait until after the teaching for caramel apples and pumpkin bowling.
In the midst of all of this, the third graders learned about how each of us are created to be different. God does not use a cookie cutter to make us. (These kids really relate to cookies.) Because God created our differences, we have nothing to fear in each other. If our differences make us feel uncomfortable, we can take that to Jesus and He can help us see others through His loving eyes.
How true is this right now for us as parents? There is so much happening in our world over our differences: racially, politically, etc. In the midst of these differences...
Love and understanding is a struggle for sure—but not for Him. First and foremost, let us take our fears to the cross. Share your struggles with Him. Ask for His grace and strength. Love as He first loved us.
