On Saturday, December 10, we joined some Dallas neighbors for our fourth annual Christmas Party in Turner Gym at Bonton. We shared Christmas goodies and crafts, played some games, and ate lunch which the students cooked—and now that you know they can cook, perhaps they should do it more at home??
It's always risky coming into someone else's space, into someone else's home, hoping you'll be accepted. What we find at Bonton is this is a neighborhood that's used to sharing. People know and take care of each other's kids. The little ones have gotten used to strangers coming in and out to help on the farm. The organizers of the community center show us such hospitality and trust every time we come from Plano with our goodie bags and cooking supplies, hoping to make a few personal connections and share together the good news of Jesus' birth.
Who are we to bring Jesus to a place where He is already mightily at work? And what can we learn from our neighbors in Bonton about what God might want to do in Plano?
God's people are given gifts to share with one another. When we go to Bonton to say "Merry Christmas!" we hope to share the love of Jesus in a way that's helpful. But we still have much to learn about that love, too.
Thanks for being on this journey with us into a deeper relationship with Dallas! And thanks again to Turner Gym and the Bonton neighborhood for hosting us as friends!
