Partnering with you in your child's formation
Years ago, when the Lord began to break my heart for the poor and open my eyes to plight of so many around us, it was this verse that resonated deep within my soul:
"And the King will answer them, I assure you: Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of Mine, you did for Me" (Matt 25:40).
What a powerful statement of contrast for our society that can be so centered on 'self.'
The whole passage is inspiring to me because Jesus brings to life some very real examples of what selfless love looks like… feeding the hungry, giving water to the thirsty, visiting the imprisoned, and housing the homeless.
Serving in the impoverished area of South Dallas, too often I see these very things. I’ve ministered to people living in tents, given clothes to the cold, encouraged men coming out of jail, and visited them while on the inside. I’ve seen grown men brought to tears through generosity. I’ve cried as well at the hands of generous donors, many from Christ Church Plano.
But, do you know the word I love most in this verse? It’s simple, it’s straightforward, but it’s often overlooked:
"Whatever you did…" Jesus says.
What an incredible concept. You don’t have to be in full-time ministry to make an impact for Jesus! Whatever you do for another is done unto Him. Did you help pack a box of food on Thanksgiving? Did you purchase an Angel Tree gift? Has your small group served on a local mission opportunity?
All these things were done unto Him.
As we close out our year, will you continue to help us empower you to serve Christ, by giving generously so that we can meet our year end goals?
