Welcome back! And Happy Epiphany!
What in the world is Epiphany?
This is a season when we remember the Wise Men finding the Messiah.
Have you ever asked yourself why a cohort of philosophers, politicians, astrologers, kings—whatever they were exactly—would travel to a backwater town to find the King of a foreign nation? (Imagine: instead of camels under a romantic-looking starry night, limos with ambassadors' flags on the front driving into Toadsuck, Arkansas, and you'll get the idea.)
God has a plan for the whole world, not just for the people who already know Him.
When the Wise Men "dismount" their limos, brushing off their Armani suits, they're bowled over. The Savior of Israel is God... in a bouncy seat. What in the world! Before this event in history, everyone except Israel has had to make our best guess at who God is—and now we find him fully revealed, the LORD of Lords, eating mashed peas, changed and bathed by His mother.
What kind of Lord will this be? An epiphany indeed! Humbled, in fear and awe, they worship.
Are you willing, this year, to try and get to know Jesus, all over again? To be surprised by Him and the Father who sent Him to you?
