...he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31
Scripture recounts the twelve disciples’ return from their mission. They return to Jesus reporting repentance preached, sickness healed, and demons sent packing. If Jesus were CEO of a corporation, He might have responded to the disciples’ by giving them a high-five and sending them out to do more. Instead, Jesus instructs the disciples not only to get away and rest, but to come away and rest with Him.
As disciples of Christ, we also need the restoration that comes from spending time away in rest, prayer, and reflection with our Lord. Please join us for our annual Women’s Retreat on the Christ Church campus. We are pleased to announce our speaker will be Dr. Erika Moore, professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. Dr. Moore is a gifted and well-sought speaker and she will give a talk in two-parts titled, Jesus in the Old Testament: Expectations Frustrated, Prophecies Fulfilled. Caitlin Woodlief will lead music.
There is no charge for this event, but please register early so we can plan appropriately for lunch, seating, and retreat materials. Visit Nursery@ChristChurchPlano.org to make a reservation for your child.
