Monday Prayers

Morning

The hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.

John 4:23

O Lord, open our lips;
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Psalm 19

1 The heavens declare the glory of God, * and the firmament shows his handiwork.

2 One day speaks to another, * and one night gives knowledge to another.

3 There is neither speech nor language, * and their voices are not heard;

4 But their sound has gone out into all lands, * and their words to the ends of the world.

5 In them he has set a tent for the sun, * which comes forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoices like a strong man to run his course.

6 It goes forth from the uttermost part of the heavens, and runs about to the end of it again, * and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

7 The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; * the testimony of the Lord is sure, and gives wisdom to the simple.

8 The statutes of the Lord are right, and rejoice the heart; * the commandment of the Lord is pure, and gives light to the eyes.

9 The fear of the Lord is clean, and endures for ever; * the judgments of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; * sweeter also than honey, than the drippings from the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them is your servant taught, * and in keeping them there is great reward.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Venite

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; * let us heartily rejoice in the strength of our salvation.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving * and show ourselves glad in him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God * and a great King above all gods.

In his hand are all the depths of the earth, * and the heights of the hills are his also.

The sea is his, for he made it, * and his hands prepared the dry land.

O come, let us worship and fall down, * and kneel before the Lord our Maker.

For he is our God, * and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Psalm 95:1-7

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect

O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may, when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Let us bless the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.

2 Corinthians 13:14

Midday

Jesus said, "Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out. And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself."

John 12:31-32

O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Psalm 121

1 I will lift up my eyes unto the hills; * from whence comes my help?

2 My help comes from the Lord, * who has made heaven and earth.

3 He will not let your foot be moved, * and he who keeps you will not sleep.

4 Behold, he who keeps Israel * shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The Lord himself is your keeper; * the Lord is your defense upon your right hand,

6 So that the sun shall not burn you by day, * neither the moon by night.

7 The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; * indeed, it is he who shall keep your soul.

8 The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in, * from this time forth for evermore.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Surge, Illuminare

Arise, shine, for your light has come, * and the glory of the Lord has dawned upon you.

For behold, darkness covers the land; * deep gloom enshrouds the peoples.

But over you the Lord will rise, * and his glory will appear upon you.

Nations will stream to your light, * and kings to the brightness of your dawning.

Your gates will always be open; * by day or night they will never be shut.

They will call you, The City of the Lord, * the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.

Violence will no more be heard in your land, * ruin or destruction within your borders.

You will call your walls, Salvation, * and all your portals, Praise.

The sun will no more be your light by day; * by night you will not need the brightness of the moon.

The Lord will be your everlasting light, * and your God will be your glory.

Isaiah 60:1-3, 11, 14, 18-19

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect

Blessed Savior, at this hour you hung upon the Cross, stretching out your loving arms: Grant that all the peoples of the earth may look to you and be saved; for your tender mercies’ sake.

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Romans 15:13

Evening

Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

John 8:12

O Lord, open our lips;
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, * nor stood in the way of sinners, and has not sat in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, * and on his law will he meditate day and night.

3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the waterside, * that will bring forth his fruit in due season.

4 His leaf also shall not wither; * and look, whatever he does, it shall prosper.

5 As for the ungodly, it is not so with them; * but they are like the chaff, which the wind scatters away from the face of the earth.

6 Therefore the ungodly shall not be able to stand in the judgment, * neither the sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

7 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, * but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Phos Hilaron

O gladsome light, pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven, * O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed!

Now as we come to the setting of the sun, and our eyes behold the vesper light, * we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, * O Son of God, O Giver of Life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.

Amen.

Collect

O God, the source of all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works: Give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give, that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments, and that we, being defended from the fear of our enemies, may pass our time in rest and quietness; through the merits of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Glory to God whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine: Glory to him from generation to generation in the Church, and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Compline

You, O Lord, are in the midst of us, and we are called by your name; do not leave us.

Jeremiah 14:9

The Lord Almighty grant us a peaceful night and a perfect end.
     Amen.
Our help is in the Name of the Lord;
The maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 31

1 In you, O Lord, have I put my trust; * let me never be put to confusion; deliver me in your righteousness.

2 Bow down your ear to me, * make haste to deliver me,

3 And be my strong rock and house of defense, * that you may save me.

4 For you are my strong rock and my castle; * be also my guide, and lead me for your Name's sake.

5 Draw me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me, * for you are my strength.

6 Into your hands I commend my spirit, * for you have redeemed me, O Lord, O God of truth.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit; * as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
