During the season of Lent, some of us will give up things we enjoy, like chocolate or desserts. While penitential reminders like these can certainly be helpful, this year I began to think what the Lord may want us to consider adding during Lent.
Lent Daily, Christ Church's devotional guide, will encourage us next week to add a discipline of meditation on Holy Scripture. How wonderful it would be for our Lenten journey to converse with God as He speaks to us in and through His Word. His Word is inspired; as 2 Timothy says:
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work."
Many of us may remember a time when hearing the voice of a loved one who was far away brought comfort to us, and the joy of hearing from the one so dear brought us peace and encouragement. Like so, the Lord loves to hear from us when we pray with Him.
Let us consider adding a conversation with the Lord during this Holy Lent as we read and hear His Word.
