"I long to be at rest." Fr. Paul relates the restorative power of knowing God's everlasting mercy. In the aftermath of the flood, God gives to Noah and all people a covenant of grace. God is steadfast: He will do all the work of rescue; He will endure all our judgment.
Fr. Paul teaches that the flood story is for people who feel they have lost everything. When brokenness is so severe and our lives are ruined, God recreates, recalibrates, and recommissions us for his purpose.
Fr. Paul begins his new sermon series “The Gospel in the Flood” by asking us to confront our entitlement, which he explains is more serious than we realize. But like with Noah, God’s grace will find us and form in us faithful obedience.
Fr. Paul sets the proper context for our prayers for healing: Pray for Christ to be near. Where Christ is, there is also healing.
