Questions like these are incredibly important to us. Whether you are a newcomer or an intermittent visitor, chances are you have questions about our church that have not yet been answered. The truth is, there is a lot going on here. That is why we have set aside the first week of September to lead a series of introductory-level classes, taught by our clergy, that explore our worship tradition and our church's mission.
The focus of Anglican Essentials—which will be held on September 5—is about providing answers to your lingering questions about worship. Fr. Bryan, associate rector of Adult Discipleship, will walk participants through Holy Communion while explaining the history, customs, and important elements of our tradition. It is, in brief, a “show and tell” experience of weekend worship.
On September 9, all Christ Church visitors and attendees are invited to Gateway: Orientation Lunch. At Gateway, we introduce our rector Fr. Paul Donison who will share our heart for the gospel and Christ Church’s vision for discipleship. There you will also learn about our adult and family ministries and find ways to become better connected. If Anglican Essentials is designed to familiarize newcomers with the Anglican tradition, Gateway is about plugging people into discipleship ministry.
Diving deeper still, Foundations is an 8-week Wednesday night course—beginning September 19—that explores the beliefs and practices central to Christian faith. Following the church’s great tradition of catechesis, participants will receive systematic instruction in the Holy Scriptures, The Creeds, The Lord’s Prayer, and the Ten Commandments. This course is packed with insight and thoughtful discussion, and it is required if you seek to become a member of Christ Church.
Beginning with Anglican Essentials and wrapping up with the final week of Foundations, Christ Church hopes to launch you into a fulfilling and life-long discipleship to Jesus. Come and join us in September!
